Silvia Mariotti
Biography
Silvia Mariotti (1980) lives and works in Milan. She graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino. In 2013, she won first place of the Celeste Prize, in the photography category; the same year she was a finalist in the third edition of the Francesco Fabbri prize, in the Contemporary photography category. In 2016, she was a finalist of the 10th edition of Rome’s Talent prize, and she participated in the artistic residency program FAAP in São Paulo, Brazil. In 2017, in addition to being invited to develop a project on the territory of the Italian province Verbano-Cusio-Ossola for C.A.R.S. (Cusio Artist Residency Space) in Omegna, she carried out another residency program in São Paulo (Uberbau House), during which she developed the research she started in 2016 on the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti. In 2019, she was a finalist for the Asolo Rotary Club’s prize, and she won the Level 0 prize, awarded by the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (GNAM, Rome) as part of the Art Verona fair. In 2020, she published her artists book De uma estrala à outra with Boîte Edition. Her works are displayed in various art galleries and public spaces, both in Italy and abroad, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lissone, the Museo Civico in Recanati, the Villa Manin in Passariano, the Galleria Civica in Pirano, the Lutetia building’s artistic residence FAAP in São Paulo, the Ducal Palace in Urbino, and the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana.
